WordPress SEO by Yoast is one of the must have SEO plugins for any self hosted WordPress website. However, it can be very annoying and confusing once you install it as it will add extra columns in your All Posts view from the dashboard. Disabling theses columns in the dashaboard is very easy. Here’s a set of instructions for disabling the extra columns added by the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin from the All Posts view.
- Open your functions.php file (this should be contained in the primary directory of your WordPress install). For designers and junior developers you can just use an FTP client with a text editor (like Coda) to open the file, for advanced developers your can nano edit from terminal.
- Add the following line of code to the functions.php file.
add_filter( 'wpseo_use_page_analysis', '__return_false' );
- Save and close.
That should cover it. Using this method to modify the plugin will also prevent it from being overwritten when future plugin updates are distributed and installed. Yoast will likely be adding an option to do this right from the plugin, but this modification is a quick and easy fix for the visually disrupting extra columns.
