Simple instructions on how to add icons to tabs on the WordPress dashboard using Dashicons. This is typically used by WordPress theme developers when creating custom post types.
1. From your FTP client, navigate to your theme folder. Then open up the folder where the custom post types live (e.g. /mytheme/lib/post-types).
2. Open up the post type file (e.g. custom-post.php).
3. Search for
1 |
'menu_icon' =>;; |
4. Add (or replace whatever was there with) your Dashicon selection (e.g. dashicon-admin-users).
Here’s an example:
1 |
'menu_icon' =>; 'dashicons-businessman', |
5. Save and upload the file. Then refresh your dashboard to see your new icon selection.
